Artist's Description

The Guadalupe with her Deer Allies honored in a Huichol style painting. The deer is a symbol of mindfulness and strength through gentleness. The Huichol are an indigenous people from the Serria Madera Mountains of Mexico. They use peyote as a religious ritual where they often merge with the primeval ancestral spirits of the deer. The Huichol style of artwork is yarn painting, with bright colors and stylized spirit beings with spirit plants and animals.
