This is an 18"x 18" painting called ' Visionaries '. There is a profound intelligence in the natural world, that can be reached through visionary plants. Many, if not most, of the ancient cultures used some form of these plants as a method of opening the doors of perception. Now-a-days, with our concrete jungles, each generation grows further away from Mother Nature. What we need is a way back to our authentic self. From the nourishing Plant Kingdom comes the 'Visionaries'...
AYAHUASCA...vine of the soul, frees the soul from corporal confinement.
PEYOTE...plays a major sacramental role in the ceremonies of the Tarahumara of Mexico.

James Joseph Roderick grew up in Provincetown, Cape Cod, Massachusetts in the 50's and 60's and attended the Art Institute of Boston in the early 70's. Since moving to Colorado in the mid-nineties, his art has fully turned into an honoring of the Goddess, the Divine Feminine in us all. He has painted over 60 images of The Virgin of Guadalupe.
